Introduction
This week, I finished reading a book about a boy named Buddy who meets a man named Mister Joey Drew. But Mister Drew, owner of an animation studio, sees something in Buddy and takes him in as an apprentice.
But as the book progresses, Buddy senses that something is terrorizing the studio after hours, and he teams up with a friend to reveal what is leaving the dark trails of ink around the studio after hours. Read this book review to learn more about this book (based on the popular video game ‘Bendy and The Ink Machine) and what I think of it.
Story
This book starts off with Buddy working as a delivery boy to support his family, always dreaming of becoming an artist, Buddy strives to get his family out of the East Side slums of New York City. And that dream might just come true…
Buddy is told to deliver a suit to an eccentric man named Mister Joey Drew, but Mister Drew notices Buddy’s artistic mind and takes him under his wing as an apprentice.
As the book continues, something seems to be roaming around and terrorizing the studio after hours and leaving behind dark trails of ink while doing so. So Buddy teams up with a friend, Dot, to find out what is roaming the studio at night.
Opinion
This book showed the character’s emotions very well and had a very engaging and hooking storyline. Kress uses aspects of the video game to weave her story, while also adding elements of her own. I give this book 4 stars out of 5 because of the grabbing storyline and suspense-filled chapters. I would recommend this book to middle school students or older and people who like suspense and/or fiction novels.
