Introduction
I just finished reading the book Dry by Jarrod and Neal Shusterman. It’s a great Science Fiction book that follows a girl named Alyssa in California after an extended drought. Alyssa has to protect her family and friends through neighbors who have been driven crazy and Gangs who are desperately searching for water. Read this book review to find out more about this book and what I think of it.
Story
In this book, Alyssa is living in Southern California during a drought. But when the tap water in their houses stops working, they have to take drastic measures. This story follows Alyssa’s journey with her brother and her friends throughout Southern California as they search for water while keeping alert for neighbors driven mad and desperate groups of people who would kill to get water.
Opinion
I like this book because it creates a dangerous environment in which Alyssa has to use quick thinking to get through. It’s also filled with danger and gives you a sense of how one would feel while living in a drought. This book also shows the reality of what happens to society if disaster hits. If you’re into science fiction and books which have catastrophic scenarios, this is a book you can read.. I rate this book 4 stars because it’s filled with small details which show how a drought feels for one experiencing it, the book also lets us experience Alyssa’s feelings and thoughts like they were our own.
