Introduction

I just finished reading a book about a girl stranded in an empty world that is being terrorized by foreign beings from outer space. These aliens (Or The Others, as Cassie refers to them), provoke natural disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis and create diseases that kill people by the billions.

One survivor, Cassie Sullivan, is determined to trust no one and survive. Until she meets Evan Walker, she realizes that The Others are planning something horrible, and She and Evan might be the only ones able to stop it. This book was The 5th Wave By Rick Yancey.

Story

This book starts off following a girl named Cassie Sullivan who is left wandering a desolate world. As the book progresses, her past and backstory are slowly revealed to the reader.

The book reveals how she was at school when ‘The Others’ first sent out a massive EMP strike, disabling all forms of technology that ran on electricity, including cars and other motor vehicles.

She reveals how she is headed to a camp to save her brother, Sam, who was taken away at a refugee camp. On her way there, she is attacked by a mysterious sniper and has to hide under a car to save herself.

She is saved by a mysterious boy named Evan Walker and convinces him to rescue her brother at Camp Haven. But as the book continues, she realizes there is more to Camp Haven — and Evan, than she thinks.

Opinion

This book showed the character’s emotions very well and had a very engaging and hooking storyline. The way Yancey described scenes and events made you feel ad you were actually there. I give this book 4 stars out of 5 because of its engaging storyline and descriptive wording. I would recommend this book to middle school students or older and people who like reading science-fiction novels.
