1- The Burj Khalifa

Perhaps the most famous out of all others on this list, The Burj Khalifa stands as the tallest building in the world at 828m (2717 ft). The construction of the building started in early 2004 in Dubai, U.A.E. in honor of President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The building officially opened to the public on January 4th, 2010, though the interior was still incomplete. It serves as a hotel and luxury residence, in addition to these, the building also contains office space and health facilities.

2- Shanghai Tower

The Shanghai Tower stands at an impressive 632m (2073ft). This building started construction in 1997 in Shanghai, China but was paused because of The Asian Financial Crisis. In 2003, construction commenced and the building opened to the public on February 2, 2015. If you happen to go inside the building, you’ll come across office spaces, residential areas, and several restaurants and shopping centers. And did I forget to mention? It’s the second tallest building in the world!

3- Makkah Royal Clock Tower

At 601m (1972ft) The Makkah Royal Clock Tower is the third tallest building in the world. This building was built in the city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia, and finished construction in 2012. The building houses hotels, residential areas, and shopping centers. It also has a massive prayer area that can hold thousands of worshippers. It is one of the largest buildings in the world by floor area. What makes this building unique is that it's not just one long building or tower like the others on this list, but is made up of several smaller skyscrapers turning it into a skyscraper complex.
